Create Short URL Extension

Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the Create Short URL Chrome extension handles information when you use it to shorten the URL of your current browser tab.

Last updated: May 6, 2026

1. Overview

Create Short URL is a lightweight Chrome extension that shortens the URL of the active tab and copies the resulting short link to your clipboard when you click the action button.

The extension is designed to minimize data handling. It does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide profile information.

2. Information the Extension Accesses

When you actively use the extension, it may access the following information:

  • The URL of your currently active browser tab.
  • The generated short URL returned by the shortening service.
  • Clipboard access only for the purpose of copying the generated short URL after you trigger the action.
The extension only accesses the current tab URL when you choose to shorten it. It is not designed to continuously monitor your browsing activity.

3. How Information Is Used

The accessed information is used solely to provide the extension's core functionality:

  • To send the current tab URL to the shortening endpoint at https://l.muz.kr.
  • To receive a shortened URL from that service.
  • To display the shortened URL in the extension popup.
  • To copy the shortened URL to your clipboard when requested.

4. Information Sharing and Third-Party Services

To create a short link, the extension sends the URL you choose to shorten to the third-party shortening service located at https://l.muz.kr.

That service may receive the URL you submit, along with standard network metadata such as IP address and request headers that are typically involved in processing web requests. The handling of information by that external service is outside the direct control of this extension.

If the URL you shorten contains sensitive information, tokens, or personal data, you should consider whether sending that URL to a third-party shortening service is appropriate before using the extension.

5. Data Storage and Retention

The extension itself does not intentionally store your URLs, browsing history, personal profile data, or clipboard contents on your device or on servers controlled by the extension developer.

The current tab URL and the resulting short URL are processed in memory during use. Any retention performed by the third-party shortening service is governed by that service's own policies and practices.

6. Permissions

The extension requests limited browser permissions for specific purposes:

  • tabs: to read the URL of the active tab when you use the extension.
  • clipboardWrite: to copy the generated short URL to your clipboard.
  • Host access for https://l.muz.kr/*: to send the URL shortening request and receive the short link response.

7. What the Extension Does Not Do

  • It does not create user accounts or collect usernames, passwords, or payment information.
  • It does not sell personal information.
  • It does not include advertising or analytics code.
  • It does not intentionally track your browsing across websites beyond the active tab URL you choose to shorten.

8. Children's Privacy

The extension is not specifically directed to children. If you believe that personal information relating to a child has been submitted through a URL shortened with the extension, please stop using the extension for that content and contact the relevant service provider if needed.

9. Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time to reflect changes in the extension, legal requirements, or operational practices. The updated version will be indicated by a revised "Last updated" date on this page.
